Corvette Super Sports Ð General Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, May 4, 2004

Proceedings

The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by President, Greg Glodery.  The secretary ascertained that a quorum was present before continuing with the meeting.

The meeting minutes were accepted as submitted in April.  Steve Towers made a motion to accept and Marietta Darke seconded the motion.

Old Business

1.                  NCCC and NCM Happenings.  Ellis Chee, NCM Ambassador, didnÕt have much to report other than the NCCC West Coast Region Meeting that was held on April 24th in Victorville.  Ellis mentioned details of the meeting were available in the CSS April newsletter.

2.                  May 22nd Gimmick Rallye Class.  Flyers were made available to members.  See additional details under ÒMay Social Event.Ó

3.                  August 21st CSS Club Car Show.  Steve McDaniel, Chairman, reported that Co-Chair positions have been filled but they still need more volunteers.

¤         Ron Kennedy has accepted position as photographer for the event.

¤         Donna Stewart will confirm with the Elks Lodge the room rental fee.

¤         Esther McDaniel will mail flyers to last yearÕs participants (39 non-CSS club members).  She will wait until Hal Oberman re-prints the flyer with NCCC-sanctioned number.  (Hal came through as usual!  Flyers were mailed on May 10.)

¤         Mike Cooper to print the flyer in June and JulyÕs newsletter.

¤         It was agreed by the Board that non-entry cars will not park on the lot during this event.

4.                  Membership Cards and Stickers.  Ken Vasilik and Ostroms Chevrolet decided that a club discount number was not necessary for CSS members to receive special discounts on parts and labor.  Just a show of the membership card was good enough.  Ann Meeuwenberg passed around new stickers to cover the old sponsorÕs name and address located on the back of the membership cards.

5.                  Newsletter Biographies.  Hal Oberman will do the honors and interview a member for MayÕs issue.

New Business

May Club Event Ð Sunday, May 16th Plastic Fantastic Car Show from 7:00 a.m. (registration) to 3:00 p.m. (awards ceremony) at the San Diego Seaport Village sponsored by North County Corvette Club and Bob Stall Chevrolet.  Please contact Jim at 858-487-9349 or Mac at 858-679-8680.  CSS members will meet the morning of the event at DennyÕs Restaurant on Harbor Blvd. / 405 Frwy.  Departure time is 6:00 a.m. sharp so if you want to eat some breakfast, plan on coming earlier.

May Social Event Ð Saturday, May 22nd Gimmick Rallye Class given by Doug and Ann Meeuwenberg with the assistance of Todd & Linda of Corvettes of So. Cal.  The class begins at 9:00 a.m. at Sizzler on 1401 N. Harbor Blvd. in Fullerton.  Donuts and coffee will be provided.  There will be an hour of class followed by a 2-hour non-competitive, teaching rallye, followed by a self-correcting explanation session (with lunch available).  They ask that you bring a pen or pencil and clipboard/writing pad.

1.                  TreasurerÕs Report.  Ann Meeuwenberg gave the TreasurerÕs report.  She also mentioned that members can sponsor a trophy for the August 21st car show for only $15.00.  To date, 10 trophies have been sold and there are 18 left.  Your name will appear on the trophy that you choose to sponsor.  Ann also mentioned that we are now 101 members strong.

2.                  NCCC-Sanctioned Events.  Ellis Chee mentioned our car show and golf tournament are now sanctioned events.  The car show is WC-0422 and the golf tournament is WC-0423.  Ellis also mentioned that Ron and Linda Officer celebrated their 10th Anniversary as members.

3.                  Charity Report.  Marietta Darke mentioned that John Force will host the Chips for Kids event on August 25, 2004.  Several CSS members have volunteered to assist in parking cars.  The address for this event is 22702 Old Canal Road in Yorba Linda.

Marietta also mentioned a price quote she received to print the CSS stationery with a two-tone, gold foil per 1000 sheets at $334.  The Board will authorize this reasonable offer.

Marietta needs the help of all club members to donate raffle prizes or get support from their community to make the August 21st club event that much better.  We know we can count on one and all but sometimes a friendly reminder will help us to take some time out of our daily routines to give to the club.  Letters are available upon request with the CSS Tax ID number to encourage businesses to make a tax deductible donation.

4.                  Club Clothing and Shirts.  Doug Meeuwenberg has made available to club members new catalogs for clothing and shirts.

5.                  Coming Events.  Ken Vasilik provided us with up and coming events.  Please check the CSS website for more details.  Even though 20 members have not filled out data sheets Ken provided the addresses/phones/emails list of everyone else.

6.                  Membership Application.  The Board has accepted Gonzalo GonzalezÕs application for membership to our club.  Congratulations Gonzo!
