Proceedings

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by President Greg Glodery.  After it was determined that a quorum was present the general meeting proceeded.

The general meeting minutes were accepted as submitted in July.  Joe Orrico made a motion to accept the minutes and Marietta Darke seconded the motion.

Old Business

Greg Glodery mentioned the upcoming CSS car show was the major focus at the July 20th Board of DirectorsÕ meeting and at a planning meeting held at the StewartÕs residence on July 28th

1.                   CSS Club Car Show.  Chairman Steve McDaniel informed the club members of the highlights of these two meetings.

a.       There is a need for miscellaneous supplies such as duct tape, folding tables, push brooms, canopies, extension cords, paper towels, etc.  A sign-up sheet was passed around during the meeting.

b.      All members should wear club shirts and badges.  Hats with club logos were optional.

c.       You must be registered in order to park on the ElkÕs lot due to lack of space.  NCCC members will pay $20, so please pre-register now to ease congestion on the day of the event.

d.      Marietta Darke still needs assistance from club members to solicit additional raffle prizes or silent auction items.  If needed, you may bring raffle prizes on the day of the event.  Anything you can donate is very much appreciated.

e.       We will need help from every member to clean-up after the event so please do not leave early.

Greg Glodery gave us some background information on the CSS annual car shows and how it generates club revenue most of which goes to charities, defrays operating costs and finances our annual banquets.

2.      Charity Drive.  Marietta Darke thanked everyone for their donation to H.I.S. House.  She received ten bags of items which were delivered to the homeless shelter.

Marietta also reiterated the need for silent auction-worthy prizes for the August 21st CSS car show.  Please donÕt forget to ask your employers for assistance and furnish them with our tax ID number.  You may contact Marietta or Ann Meeuwenberg should you have any further questions.

3.      NCCC News.  Ellis Chee reported the National Corvette Museum is looking to increase their size by two times and the cost for this expansion:  $6 million.  They are offering to sell a brick for $100 or $200, if you want to inscribe a special message.  Since we have a few members who are affiliated with the Museum and the most recent new members, Bill and Marietta Darke, Ellis proposed to make a $100 donation.  The Board of Directors unanimously voted to donate $100 to the Museum on an annual basis at the end of each year.

Ellis also mentioned he has a catalog for Corvette class rings that start from $600.  Please see him if you are interested.  He also has raffle tickets for a C5 for $25 and the first C6 to be given away on September 6th for $10.  He also mentioned a 2683 Repeal for Smog Check on cars that are older than 1976.  Ellis passed around the details of this initiative and if you have further questions on how you can make a difference, please call him.

In regards to Doug Hall of SoCal CorvetteÕs recent car accident, the President proposed to send $100 to help Doug recoup from his medical bills and/or loss of work.

4.      Past Events.  Big Bear Bash Ð Pomona had 48 participants at the July 9-11 event and took the Club ParticipantsÕ Award.  CSS had 33 participants but we took other awards Òbig timeÓ!   We received about 12 trophies and it shows the quality of our members and how it carries over into car events and the autocross as well.  We are very proud of Gail, Mario, Linda, Joe, and Ed, SteveÉjust to name a few!  Everyone who entered took a trophy and that is approximately 50% of the trophies!!!  Temecula Del Mar Race and Car Event Ð Per Rick Miller, there were 24 cars there on Sunday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m.  Everyone who attended was assigned a dish to bring.  There was also special parking for their vettes.  His wife, Lynn picked 5/6 (in a row!) for the first half.  Rick mentioned if she had picked the latter half, (sigh) they would be multi-millionaires today.

5.      Laughlin 2005 Event.  This event will be moving to state-line at Wild BillÕs.  This fun event is hosted by Corvettes of Bakersfield and this will be their 13th annual car show to be held on March 18-20, 2005.  Please see Ken Vasilik for flyers on this event.

Other Important Business

¤         Ron JobesÕ 1982 corvette was selected as AugustÕs clean car.  Would you believe Ron never washes his car?

¤         What did I hear?  Cindy Ripley volunteered to wear an itsy bitsy teenie weenie bikini at the CSS car event to help promote the show.  Sure beats cleaning your calipers, uh, Cindy!!!

¤         Art Harrington did the honors by drawing the free dinner raffle and the winner was Jim Italiano.  Brittany drew Jim ItalianoÕs name for the 50/50 $73 cash prize.  Other raffle winners were Hazel Beidleman, Hal Oberman, Mike Cooper, Ellis Chee, Steve McDaniel and Phil Villalovos.

It was a good meeting and we had another full house, thanks to our guests, too.

There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned at 8:24 p.m.  Bill Freeland motioned to end the meeting and Hal Oberman seconded the motion.
